Alina Yang is an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) and a secondary school teacher with the Toronto District School Board. She is a graduate of the B.B.A. and Master of Teaching programs at the University of Toronto, and serves as Director of Education at Caution Tape Robotics, where she shapes educational standards, curriculum development, and instructor training.

What I work on
Four areas of work, from the shape of a program down to the lesson a student sits through.
Curriculum development
Scope and sequence, unit design, lesson materials, and the assessment that goes with them — built so a program holds together across a whole term, not just a single class.
Educational standards
Defining what good means for a lesson before it ships: learning goals, success criteria, cognitive load, and the balance of doing versus reading.
Teacher development
Onboarding, training, and coaching for instructors — turning written curriculum into confident teaching in front of real students.
STEM program design
Robotics, coding, and maker programs designed as genuine learning progressions rather than activity collections.
Philosophy
How I teach
Start from what students can already do
A lesson that ignores prior knowledge either bores the room or loses it. Good planning begins with an honest read of where students actually are — then builds one clear step from there.
Rigour is a form of respect
Lowering the bar is not kindness. Students rise to work that is demanding and well scaffolded, and they can tell the difference between a hard task and an unfair one.
